The High Museum of Art in Atlanta is premiering a new exhibit during the summer and it may be one of the most exciting ones yet.
The American Federation of Arts has created The Rise of Sneaker Culture exhibit and will be open to the public from June 11-August 14. The exhibition is the first of its kind tracking the history of sneakers from the mid-19th century up to its current stance in pop culture and fashion.
Included portions of the exhibit will come from Nike, Adidas, Puma, Reebok, DMC of Run DMC, Bobbito Garcia and Dee Wells. Designers of high fashion like Prada, Christian Louboutin will also have featured contributions.
Luckily for those of us with short attention spans, this exciting feature for High Museum will have film, photos and even drawings to keep your interests. Topics covered include history, marketing, fashion trends and more. Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture begins on June 11 and will be available until August 14.
Friday, June 10 from 7pm-10pm will give a sneak peak into the exhibit for those interested in the collection from Bata Shoe Museum. For more launch party info, click here.
